Protect Those Crazy Family Meals

The PYE Download: Resource Edition!

I'm fresh back from a family vacation! We visited three more National Parks: Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. All incredible. We love family road trips!

Two items to share:

  1. Embrace crazy family meals.
  2. Strengthen your home's defenses.

Family Meals Are Sacred

This past spring, I spoke on Pastor Jack Hibbs' podcast about a wide range of digital topics (I'd love for you to watch it), and at one point, the conversation shifted to family dinners.

Our adult daughter is back home for the summer. I love it. So, with 6 of us, the dinner table is full, rowdy, and borderline inappropriate at times 😂

And I know there will be a day when I long for just one more. Maybe it comes back around with grandchildren. I pray it does. But I want to experience full presence at my full table, right now 💙

Our phones are experience blockers (a great phrase from Jonathan Haidt). Never bring a device to the table. Keep them tucked away at the restaurant. Upside down on the table isn't enough. Mark your kids as "emergency contacts," so they're the only ones who can break through.

In my book, 5 Habits of the Tech-Ready Family, I invite you to understand how “Modeling the Right Behaviors” (habit 1) has such a profound impact on the entire family. Parents, never underestimate the influence of your phone habits.

Defending Our Homes

As parents, we all want the same thing…

To protect our children and prepare them for the world.

The challenge is that today’s world looks very different than the one we grew up in! The biggest threats aren’t always obvious anymore. They’re online, in their friendships, and even in the emotional climate of our homes.

That’s why I’m excited to be joining three incredible experts for The Safe Home Summit™—a live virtual event on August 8th designed to help parents protect their children physically, digitally, socially, and emotionally.

I'll be sharing how to Raise Wise Kids in a Wild Digital World, blending practical home strategies with the brain science behind why tech habits matter so much during childhood and adolescence.

You'll also learn from:

  • Kevin Goat - Self-defense expert.
  • Tanner Clark - Social relationships expert.
  • Mitchell Osmond - Family relationships expert.

I’d love for you to join us!
