The 6 Worst Places for Kids Online

👉🏽 Location, location, location!

In real estate and technology! 📱

Whether you’re age 4, 14, or 40, where kids and adults use technology has a massive impact on how we use technology. And since I struggled with online addiction for years, I understand that temptation lurks more heavily in certain places.

This means avoiding six places that increase the risk of digital harm and making poor digital choices.

  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Basements
  • (School) Buses
  • Sleepovers
  • Grandma's house

The LOCATION LAYER is one of the layers we wrap around our kids to prevent digital harm. And “grandma's house" isn’t a dig on grandparents. It’s calling out digital risk in a place where it isn’t always recognized.

Would you like to understand the layers better? Chapter six of my book explains everything (and it's 39% off in the USA)!

Why Apple's Parental Controls Are a Mess

Have you tried Apple’s new parental controls in iOS 27?

Nope! Almost NO ONE has! Because Apple forgot to tell us something important.

Back in June, Apple promised revamped parental controls.

✅ Pause the internet!
✅ Ask to browse!
✅ Better Downtime controls!

Ten years of requests were going to get checked off my list. Until they weren't.

Because unless every device in your Family Sharing group is upgraded to iOS 27, you can’t use any of iOS 27’s parental control improvements! That old Apple Watch, iPad, and MacBook from your last employer are in the way.

Here’s the thing. From a technical software perspective, I get why this is true. But Apple has really smart people. There’s got to be a way not to drag all the old devices along, right?

For me, it’s just more evidence that none of Apple’s products are actually tested by real parents.

Did you know we have complete DEVICE GUIDES? Yep. Always free. Step by step and chat by chat, we'll show you how to prepare and protect your amazing kids online.

Parenting with you,
