My goodness. We're published!

The PYE Download: We're Published!

Ten years ago, Protect Young Eyes was just a website to help families at our church.

I never planned to write a book. But then the messages started coming — and they never stopped:

“My 15-year-old son is asking to play Fortnite. It seems that many of his new friends are playing it, and he’d like to connect with them. He’s a responsible kid. How do we decide?”
“My three young children were looking up an innocent dance with their cousin, and the search spit out a ton of pornographic sites. I’m devastated. What do I do now?”
“My 10-year-old came to me and said, ‘Mom, these gambling ads in my app are really tempting.’ How can I prevent those?”

Families are up against the world’s most brilliant software engineers. That’s not a fair fight! And you deserve better than fear and guesswork.

So I wrote a guide.

5 Habits of the Tech-Ready Family is out today, and you can grab your copy on Amazon here!

(Also available as an audiobook on Audible, and wherever you buy books.)

The book is built on Five Habits that don’t go out of date, no matter how fast technology reinvents itself:

  • Habit 1: Model the right behaviors — because your kids are watching everything.
  • Habit 2: Pursue authentic connection — the strongest filter you’ll ever install.
  • Habit 3: Encourage work and play — the offline life that makes online life healthier.
  • Habit 4: Delay addictive technologies — and why waiting is your secret weapon.
  • Habit 5: Diligently prevent harm — practical steps to stay ahead of the risks.

These habits have been refined through thousands of conversations with parents, grounded in Scripture, backed by science, and lived out in my own home. When you put them into practice persistently and consistently, the transformation is real: from scared to prepared, from overwhelmed to confident, from reactive to ready.

I owe everything to the families who trusted me with their stories — often in the wreckage of a crisis, reaching out in desperation. Many of you didn’t know your kids were subjects of an experiment.

Now we know. I pray your pain becomes someone else’s protection.

Let’s raise wise kids in a wild digital world. Together!

Parenting with you!
