Solving 3 Summer Digital Safety Risks

NEW PLACES, PATTERNS, AND PEOPLE create summer risk.

NEW PLACES: In Michigan, between Memorial and Labor Day, many families enjoy time at the lake or another warm-weather retreat. And although sleepovers can happen anytime, they tend to occur more frequently during summer vacation with friends and relatives (like grandparents).

This year, when you head to the cottage, or your kids spend more time at a certain friend’s house, or wherever you go, be sure to take an inventory of internet access. Then guard the doorways in those locations the same way you filter and monitor at home.‍

We suggest layers of protection to mitigate summer internet risk:

  • Guard the location – where kids use technology often dictates how they use technology.
  • Guard the device – activate any controls you can, by following our device guides!
  • Guard the wireless router – ensure all new places have a router with filters and time controls.

NEW PATTERNS and NEW PEOPLE also contribute to summertime risk! Parents, let's own what we can control, and enjoy an amazing, safe summer.

My Debut Book Launches Tomorrow!

I'd love for you to order my new book. But first, my wife surprised me!

Four weeks ago, I came home from a trip and found a box from HarperCollins in my home office.

It was addressed to me, but it was opened! I looked inside and saw my first batch of finished books. My wife, Andrea, was so excited when it showed up that she opened it before I got home :)

She has a rather private role in all of this. Many only know Andrea from the family picture in my talks. But there’s no PYE without her. She's the one who trusted me to make a midlife career change and pursue PYE full-time. I walk back in the door after a speaking trip to a home where I’m supported and encouraged.

Countless families benefit from our partnership in all of this.

And tomorrow, I launch what I've learned on this unexpected journey! Will you help me blow this launch out of the water?

5 Habits of the Tech-Ready Family is ready!

  • Order yours today from Amazon, Audible, or anywhere you buy books!
  • Then get one for grandma (all homes on the same page!).
  • Then organize a summer book club (discussion guide coming!).

Parenting with you,
Chris

I recently had a deposit to make. Nothing complicated. A check. The kind of transaction that takes 47 seconds at an ATM. Electronic submission would have made it even faster — photograph both sides, tap submit, done. I went inside instead. This is where I want to speak directly to parents....

The PYE Download: We're Published! Ten years ago, Protect Young Eyes was just a website to help families at our church. I never planned to write a book. But then the messages started coming — and they never stopped: “My 15-year-old son is asking to play Fortnite. It seems that many of his new friends are playing it, and he’d like to connect with them. He’s a responsible kid. How do we decide?” “My three young children were looking up an innocent dance with their cousin, and the search spit...
